Babatunde Bamigboye, Esq. – Championing Sustainable Development

Babatunde Bamigboye, Esq. CDPRP, Founder and Chairman, Borad of Trustees.  Babatunde has been an unwavering crusader of social justice and sustainable development for over 20 years. His initiative on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Knowledge Exchange at Obafemi Awolowo University in 2005 was inaugurated by Emeritus Prof. D.A. Ijalaye, SAN (who was a member of the UNESCO International Bioethics Committee).  In 2008 he convened a Model United Nations Conference at Ekiti State University (then known as UNAD) in collaboration with the University Chapter of Junior Chambers International. True to his passion for sustainable development, His drive for shared responsibility in economic development led to awareness creation on Fiscal Justice in 2018. Babatunde subsequently convened the Value Clinic for Sustainable Development in Nigeria in 2021. The Clinic drew participants from Federal Ministry of Justice, Federal Ministry of Works, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission (ICPC), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), private sector and the mass media among others.

As a legal practitioner, Babatunde led the technical session of the first High Level Roundtable on Data Protection for the ECOWAS Common Market in 2018.  Following this Roundtable, he led legal experts at CPJ Solicitors in drafting the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR), 2019. Upon his appointment as the Head, Legal Enforcement and Regulations for the Nigeria Data Protection Bureau (now a Commission) he led the technical experts of government under NDPC leadership in drafting the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDP Act), He was subsequently (2023) appointed chair of the NDP Act General Application and Implementation Directive (GAID) Committee. 

Babatunde has travelled to countries in West Africa, East Africa, Europe and North America for the purpose of bilateral or multilateral cooperation on data governance. He was appointed by the United States Federal Trade Commission (Washington DC) as an International Fellow in Spring 2024. As the Founder and Chair of the Board of Trustees, INPUT4Development, Babatunde is teaming up with distinguished experts in Health, Agriculture, Housing, Finance, ICT, Policy, Law, Engineering, Technical and Vocational Education (TVET), Media, etc to champion civic, mass participation in sustainable development in line with the Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy. He is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Babatunde is happily married with three children.
